What it can't do
Rule-based renaming works on the filename and on file-level metadata (dates, size) — it cannot open a PDF and read text or numbers out of the document itself, so it can't auto-name a scanned invoice by the invoice number printed inside it. For that kind of content-aware rename you'd need a separate OCR step first. Everything that touches the filename or file metadata directly — find/replace, regex, dates, numbering — it handles in one pass, on a whole folder including subfolders.
